When I was at Evo (I swear this is the last time I will bring up this silly conference), I was introduced to a fabulous United Nations campaign called Shot@Life.
In their own words, "Shot@Life educates, connects and empowers Americans to champion vaccines as one of the most cost-effective ways to save the lives of children in developing countries..."
Did you know?
- 1 in 5 children around the world does not have access to the vaccines they need to survive.
- A child dies every 20 seconds in developing countries of a disease that can be prevented by a vaccine.
- The number of children dying every year from preventable diseases in developing countries is nearly equivalent to half the children entering kindergarten in the U.S.
The statistics are staggering. As a mother who has lost a child myself I truly feel for these other mothers whose children are DYING. And these deaths are preventable! I am inspired to do something about it (and I hope you are too).
So this week's Show Off Your Shot is for Shot@Life (see how clever that is?). As we gear up for back to school in the next week I want to do something in order to see fewer children dying in developing countries so that they too can go back to school.
So for every show off your shot linked up this week I personally am going to donate one dollar to Shot@Life.
So link up, peeps, and spread the word. Let's make this a record week!
For more information about Shot@Life please visit them on the web at shotatlife.org
