Haleakala. On a bicycle. aka My Husband is Crazy.

My crazy husband thought it would be "fun" to spend his Hawaiian vacation riding a bicycle up 10,000 feet or so. And there just so happened to be this volcano nearby. So he rented a bike, got up early and rode UP Haleakala (and then turned around and rode back down). We did not go with him because 4 hours in a car with a three year old was not how I wanted to spend MY vacation, but he promised to take lots of pictures so it would almost be like we were there.

These are those photos. Taken by Chris on his iPhone 4. Edited by me in Lightroom 3.

But it seemed pretty legit.

Cloud bank he rode through between 7,000-8,000 feet or so. It was pretty cold.

The internet says that this ride is among the top 3 most difficult rides in the nation and also the longest paved climb in the world. And if the internet says so, it must be true.

While we were in San Diego last week (oh how I miss San Diego already) we spent a day at Legoland. We had never been to Legoland, or Disneyland, or really any big (expensive) place like that, so it was fun to take the kids. Charlie and Camden loved it. I would say it is definitely say it is geared to the under 10 age group. But the rest of us enjoyed ourselves enough. It did, however, cost us close to $400 to go, and to eat mediocre food, and to buy Charlie a new t-shirt after he puked on his. (FYI do not play belly guitar on your toddler after he chugs an entire juicebox, Chris). We had a discount coupon from a friend (from the Lego magazine) which saved us about $50 on admission so that was helpful. So before you head out make sure you get yourself one of those.

You guys? San Diego is AMAZING. We are staying right on the beach, at Mission Beach. And we LOVE it here. Seriously.

You may have guessed, we went to the "pumpkin patch" this weekend. Pumpkin patch is in quotes because it really isn't a pumpkin patch. It's a market on the corner of a busy street out in Gig Harbor. Quick and easy to get to, no mud (even though it rained just seconds after I snapped these pictures), and the kids don't know the difference. Please don't tell them what a real pumpkin patch is, k?

Also, I been doing some totally blog worthy things this weekend including a small painting project AND some delicious soup you are going to want to make...so stay tuned!

On Saturday night we celebrated Chris' parents' birthdays with family and a bunch of their friends at Chris' sister's house in Seattle. It was a beautiful event, with delicious food prepared by Papillon Catering. Yum, seriously still drooling over the food. Oh, and there was wine.

That woman in the center of this photo, the one with the super hawt legs and the four inch heels? Yeah, that is my mother-in-law. She's seventy. (I'm not sure I'm allowed to say her actual age here on the internet, but I just felt you like all should know that, I mean seriously, those legs are looking good!)

And while we're on the subject of shoes (oh, how I love shoes), this next photo is nothing special but I just wanted to share it because my friend Katie lent me these awesome shoes for the party that pretty much MADE my outfit. (They also made me close to six feet tall, which at a Drechsel function comes in handy).
