I had one of those days today where I felt like a bad mom, the kind of mom who spends more time screaming at her kids than playing with them. (To be fair, I don't scream at the baby, but that doesn't really make it any better, does it)? I am at my wit's end with my seven year old and his doing whatever the hell he wants attitude. I hate feeling angry at him all the time. I'm exhausted by it actually, so after he spent damn near the ENTIRE morning in his room because it took him that long to clean it I felt like we needed to get out of the house. So, we went to the park.
Here's my confession:
I don't really "get" wordless wednesday. So let's call it what it is. Around here words are totally ok, and actually encouraged! So if you like words too and want to link up your wordless wednesday, but with words, please do. And if it's Thursday by the time you get around to it, well heck, that's ok too.

Hooray for the park! That has saved me on many occasions.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool teeter totter.
ReplyDeleteI feel ya! I am trying to convince my 8 yr. old son that he does not know everything. I didn't expect that until the teenage years.
ReplyDeleteCool park. I so know what you mean. Most days I feel like all I do is tell Dustyn no.
ReplyDeleteWe all have days like this, that is why drinks with pink umbrellas are for! And chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThe shot is pretty spectacular thought!
Looks like you had much fun :)
ReplyDeleteIf that were me I would say "KING OF THE CASTLE!" and march around.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and colorful and sympathetic joy.
ReplyDeleteI can surely relate! We all have those days. Really cute pic, btw!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't have words for my photo. It's kinda self explanatory.:) But my WW is not totally wordless.
ReplyDeleteBTW, love your photo, it's my first time here.
Lori
I feel your frustration. Love the photo.
ReplyDeleteMy second born is usually behind our highest of the highs and the lowest of our lows. The park has saved his life on many occasions.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting- for once, I was actually wordless!

I'm not sure if my link went through - it landed me on the mr. linky page. either way, you need a drink!
ReplyDeleteI have days like these and I work full time, so I can only imagine. I think Ashley's idea sounds wonderful, a drink. Maybe 10? lol!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pic!
My son was getting off one of these and the other rider didn't know and kept see sawing up and down and...well, let's just say my son came back to me in tears with his hands cupped between his legs. Poor boy...
ReplyDeleteCool Bean Mommas
hmmmm my 6 year old sounds like your 7 year old. It IS exhausting when they act like that. Good grief! I have lost my mind a good 745 times this summer.. sad thing is I have only found about half of it since. :/
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot. Sorry your having trouble with your 7 year old. I was actually pre-worrying about this last night. My daughter is only 17 months so this is totally premature but I was just wondering how I'm going to handle blatantly defiant children. Even if they're usually good there are bound to be times when they're not. Best wishes on keeping your cool and I hope that this stage passes quickly for you.
ReplyDeleteSometimes everyone just needs to get out and stretch their legs. Makes everything feel at least a little more sane. Only here it's SOOO freaking hot no matter where we go it has to be inside which kinda stinks.
ReplyDeleteOh man. I feel your pain, girl. It was like that around here this summer. My 6yo wouldn't clean her room and it would take ALL DAY. We had to cancel field trips to the aquarium and other places because of her procrastination.
ReplyDeletelol hilarious...i never keep my wordless wednesday posts wordless! adorable picture!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a rough one! I love your honesty! Hope things are looking up soon!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect antidote for parental frustration.
ReplyDeleteMy kid is only 14 m.o. so I have no experience of the terrible sevens(!?) but I did read this post last night about "tweens" that may have something useful for you? Donno...but maybe it would be helpful. http://www.askmoxie.org/2011/08/guest-post-9-year-old-boys-and-their-mood-swings.html
love the frozen motion in this shot and all the different interactions! its great and timeless feeling
