So Chris and I planned a weekend trip to Portland (OR) to celebrate our 17 year anniversary! We love Portland and were excited to go and shop without kids and tax, and to get some fun "vacation" pictures. : ) WooHOO!
But that didn't happen.
Instead, we (well, mostly me) got to clean up puke at 3am on the morning of our anniversary. Apparently when Camden came in at 2am saying his stomach hurt we should have given him a puke bowl at that time. It may have prevented the vomit ALL OVER HIS BED an hour later. And ALL OVER HIMSELF. Poor guy, told me he was having a horrible horrible day. (You and me both, Dude. All I thought about was that the chance of Chris and I being able to get away just hours later was gone).
Reluctantly, we cancelled the hotel, cancelled the babysitter, and made the best of it. I borrowed a bunch of movies for Camden and bribed Grace with getting to be in charge and since Camden seemed to be not throwing up anymore Chris and I headed out on a local anniversary date instead. (Thanks for watching the brothers, Grace!)
We went shopping and outfitted Chris with a much needed work wardrobe update (two pairs of pants, two shirts, two pairs of shoes, and a belt!), then we went to Asado for dinner, which many friends have told us was fabulous. Meh, it was OK. Topped it off with pie by the slice at Met Market (coconut cream for him, key lime for me), and then home to our lovely children.
But then I had a headache, so I took an imitrex, put Charlie down for bed, and laid down for just a few minutes, only to wake up the next morning fully clothed, and with my contacts still in (yuck!).
So, I didn't get any fabulous pictures this weekend afterall...but here's some "new" ones from the past week or so:
linking up with the paper mama {sweet}
linking up with this is me, getting a life for naked sunday
linking up with ni hao yall for sunday snapshot
and a rural journal for your sunday best
linking up with project alicia {patriotic}

Congrats on the anniversary. Hope you two are able to have a bit more romantic date in the near future. Just a suggestion, never talk about vacation plans in front of small children or electronics, it never fails if you do the child will get sick and the electronics will break down. At least that has been my experience. :D
ReplyDeleteI hope you can reschedule soon! You and Chris deserve a weekend away! And, like I told you...I CANNOT believe you didn't like Asado! Go back, try the polenta...turn the "meh" into "mmmmmmm."
