and then she snapped: 48 hours in SF

48 hours in SF

Chris had to go to San Francisco for a work meeting on Friday so I decided to tag along.  As you already know, we were travelling kid free...which is kind of a helluva lot easier than travelling with kids. From SFO we boarded the BART. Our friend Benner made some fart jokes with Chris on the iphone along the way. Of course.

The BART dropped us off across the street from our hotel.  The Hyatt Regency.  It was pretty nice, this is the view out our window. That is the Bay Bridge (I think).

On Friday, while Chris was at work I walked from our hotel to Union Square, in search of Macy's. (you know, I love me some Macy's). I found it, and I'm pretty sure it's the hugest Macy's in the universe.  They have a WHOLE ENTIRE FLOOR dedicated to shoes. I was really good and refrained from buying any. The concierge said that Macy's was only a 3/4 mile walk. She must have been smoking crack because I am pretty sure I walked about 17 miles on Friday. Here's a traditional tourist shot for ya:

When Chris finished his meeting we rode the tram (I think that's what it's called) down to Fisherman's Wharf, where they sell LOTS of cheap t-shirts, and, for some reason digital cameras? Also, sun glasses, which is where we were here:

This is at one of the 3 or 4 shady "digital camera stores" that we saw.  They had a D7000 IN STOCK! and for only $999. Sounded a little too good to be true, so I passed. Does anybody know, are these places legit?

We saw these circus street performers (the Sardine Family) do their act and they were really really funny. When we got back to the hotel I found them on youtube, and their shtick is word for word exactly the same, even down to the innocent bystander, "amber", in the crowd. You should totally watch the video though, they were really funny. Here is part 1, and part 2.

Dude.  Fisherman's Wharf is really windy and freaking freezing. Here we are freezing our asses butts off.

We met my cousin Justin and Cara for dinner at Gaylord's. It was really good food and so fun to see them! However, it was really dark in the restaurant and I could NOT get the white balance right, so I went black and white instead.

That's it for now. More pics to come!

  5. Those camera places are not legit, you would have found yourself with an inferior (likely refurbed) product. Those of us who live or work in SF love to watch tourists at Fisherman's Wharf freezing the behinds off (sorry, but it is true) the warmest months in SF are Sept/Oct - summer is very cold in the city! Looks like you had fun anyway and I am glad, the city has lots to offer!
