and then she snapped: Dear Charlie

Dear Charlie

Yo yo yo!  Charlie Pete here. I'm five months old today.  No lie!  I'm getting pretty big too...probably about 16 pounds or so if I had to guess.  My feet are the same size as my cousin cousin, Tula, even though she is like way older than me.  And you know what they say about the size of a man's fee...oh, nevermind.

We got some fish yesterday, like the pet kind, not the kind you eat, and, DUDE, those things poop more than I do!  I'm pretty sure they poop their own weight every day.  Between you and me I'm pretty sure they aren't going to last around here very long.  There's probably going to be some kind of "mysterious disappearance" or something and I'm sure my mom will deny any involvement.

Anyway... my brother has been reading me this book a lot lately, and it is soooo good!  It's about this mouse, who is searching and searching for his dragon, and keeps running into other dragons who are not his dragon for one reason or another...ears too tufty, tail too prickly, etc.  I don't want to spoil the ending, but it is good, you should totally read it.

My mom has been trying to get me to sleep all freaking night long the last month or so.  What she doesn't understand is I only wake up at night because  a) I love her and b) I'm STARVING.  Anyway, she'll just come in my room and "shhh" me and make me go back to sleep.  Sometimes I let her get away with it, I mean, she does look a lot better when she gets a solid night's sleep.  But other times I'm all, "Dude, you are the mom...it's your JOB to get up and hold me, snuggle me, feed me, whatever it is I happen to feel like."

It finally got nice and warm around here so I have been getting to spend more time outside, playing with my toys on a blanket.  People keep trying to make me sit up, but really, why?  I just fold in half and wait for them to come and save me.  That'll teach 'em!  I'll sit up when I feel like it, thank you very much!  I have been practicing my smackdown skills though; I can totally hit my dad toys like no other.  Especially the "furry friends" on my bouncy seat, or the fish and elephant on my exersaucer.  Those are some good times!

Next month I get to eat baby food.  I'm looking forward to that.  I've been watching everyone else eat and it's getting kind of old.  I'm ready for my turn.  I think I'll be really good at it.  Maybe when I wake up tonight I'll ask my mom if I can try some then.  I'm sure she'll be happy to oblige.

Laters,
Charlie Pete
