You guys? I'm bored with this blog. Which I can only assume means you all are bored with this blog too (it's ok, you can admit it). But at the same time I LOVE this blog. I love to be able to post pictures that I love. And share stories about the
It's the linky parties, I think, that feel like a chore. And who needs another chore? Not I! I didn't get Show Off Your Shot up on Sunday night and I actually felt guilty about it. And that's not right. I had to browse through my archives (on my phone even!) to find something to post Monday morning and I don't want to have to SEARCH for something to post. So effective immediately I'm discontinuing Show Off Your Shot and Wordless Wednesday but with Words at least until I get back from EVO next month. At that time I'll reassess. Maybe I'll bring them back, maybe I won't.
Speaking of EVO, I am super excited to go. I'm excited to meet some new blog friends, and to be responsible for ONLY me for 4 whole days (can you even imagine??!!). I'm excited to NOT wake up at 5:58 in the a.m. to "MOMMY, MOMMY, MOMMY! Get me MiiiiiiLK!" I really don't know anybody going and am a little nervous about that. But that also makes it even more exciting. I'll be able to pretend I'm an outgoing person and NOBODY will know any better! Oh and also, I've heard there is an outlet mall right there, so...if all else fails, you know where I'll be!
This morning Charlie and I went out to breakfast with my dad, for a little late fathers' day celebration, because really, my dad is the COOLEST. And since I knew I didn't HAVE to post anything, I actually enjoyed taking my camera and getting some fun shots.
That's what I want to get back to. Taking pictures because I love taking pictures.
I completely understand about linky parties. I once felt the inclination to do one, then wondered what I was thinking!? I cannot commit to something so stringent like that. It can take the fun out of things when it feels like a chore.
ReplyDeleteHoping you get your blogging mojo back! Cause I'm not bored of your blog yet. :)
I totally understand! Not that I think your blog is boring, but it is no fun when something feels like a chore. My blog has been silent for a while because, while I love taking pictures, I don't like the time it takes to edit them and do a post and feel like my time is better spent with family for right now. I kind of feel guilty, but I know I will catch it up eventually! Enjoy your EVO conference!!
ReplyDeleteGrandpa pics are the best - and this is a very, very happy one!! Love the giggles. Glad you're doing what feels right to you...I think staying aware of that have to/want to tight rope we walk is super important. And, for me anyway, taking a step or two back from time to time is the only way I can get back in touch with which parts of my life are which (if that makes sense!!?) Enjoy your time away!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you're willing to {temporarily?} give up your very successful link-ups in favor of enjoying blogging. I have noticed that the linkys I used to look forward to have become disappointing and strangely competitive. I actually just discovered a new link up meme for Wednesdays, based on Instagram. I think using Instagram pics will level the playing field and make things more playful and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the conference next month!
I understand...but hope you keep posting your shots because they are always fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI leave in the morning for Haven- I have never been to a blog conference not have I ever met a single person going- eeks!
Have a great summer!

Yep, right there with you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, love this picture.
Totally understand.. Enjoy your linky break! :D
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! You are such a talented photographer.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the lackluster blog feelings, I have been feeling that way about my own blog. Maybe this trip will be the breath of fresh air that you need. Have fun!
No. I just found your blog. Your pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your shots and I'll be here waiting whenever you decide to post one!
ReplyDeleteLove that picture!!! I hope to see lots more!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your shots! I totally agree with you about the blog. Not yours, mine. Sometimes you just need a break. We will be here for you when you get back into it. I love this blog!
ReplyDeleteI hear you. But I do love visiting so I must kick you in the bum :) Love the photo, you and Gracie are surrounded by happy man.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss both linkies, but I so get it. Hope you have an awesome 4 days!
ReplyDeleteOMG! ME TOO! (not bored of your blog but linkys.) I stopped all mine, most of the time. and normally do them when I feel guilty. Its been nice not caring and just sharing what I want and when. like the old days! awww....
ReplyDeleteAw I'll miss those, but I totally understand!
ReplyDeleteOnly you can keep it fun for yourself. Trust the process...if you've outgrown what you were doing it's obviously time to stretch yourself some other way with your photography. I suspect, whatever is coming, oh yeah...it's gonna be good! :)
ReplyDeleteWow...I totally admire your honesty. I don't always see that in the blog world! Enjoy your break at EVO! Photo of grandpa is marvelous!

Totally understand, linking parties are a lot of work. I mine last year. Have a great summer!
ReplyDeleteI manage a very big meme on my other blog. It does take hard work and dedication but for me it is worth it as it has created a wonderful community I am proud off... I think having one linky party or meme is enough though otherwise you could drive yourself bonkers.

Good for you! There's no point if it becomes work, and though that SOUNDS so simple, it actually takes guts to allow yourself to step back. :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE this picture of Charlie and your dad!! So very cute of two cute men!!
ReplyDeleteRachel, life has taught me that when things start feeling like a chore, it's time to do a turn around before something you love is ruined forever. I think this applies to everything. For example, I used to love cooking--before I had to cook for the two men who share my abode non-stop since it seems they're eating every minute of the day. Now I hate it. With. a. passion. I'm hoping my summer break, one that I hope will reaquaint me with fresh fruit and raw vegetables, will allow me to get my cooking mojo back when I get back from my trip. I guess what I'm trying to say is same applies to the linky parties. I love this shot of your father and child. The emotion present is a beautiful thing. :)
ReplyDeleteBlogging shouldn't feel like a chore! I'm glad you feel better about taking pictures and if you have to cancel a linky or two, than so be it! It should always be a fun thing! I'm not going to lie, the linkies will be missed, but I get it :o)
ReplyDeletegreat photo! and if you're bored, switch it up! it's yo blog, do whatcha want! YOLO!
ReplyDeleteyes I think do what you want when you want!! Because I feel like if you are bored with it, people can tell and then people lose interest too!
ReplyDeleteI am at a transistion with my blog and don't know where I want to go with my blog, I'm pregnant, but it was a photography journal originally, so now its just a journal of whatever I want to put in there!! :)
you are awesome.
Sometimes change is good, especially if you're stressing out about something.
