and then she snapped: wordless wednesday but with words

wordless wednesday but with words

You guys! I have totally been in a blogging funk. KWIM? I mean vacation was awesome, and I just didn't really worry about posting too much, and then we got home and I really needed to spend all of my "free" time preparing taxes, because I actually get paid to do that. So I got a few posts up, but my google reader? It is overflowing. Forgive me if I haven't been visiting as much as a usually do. I think things are finally settling down a bit and I will get back into my groove, soon.

But today? Well today, I "nested". No, I'm not pregnant, but I do love me some purging and organizing, and so that's what I did today. (well that and watched Gossip Girl). I focused mostly on the kitchen. Starting with my cookbooks. Because really, have you heard of the internet? I got rid of half of my cookbooks, the ones I never used. Or used one recipe out of (in which case I made a copy and put it in my recipe binder). I got rid of old magazines, instead just ripped out the page or two that I really wanted. Except my Everyday Food magazines. I have six years of them, and I'm just not ready to get rid of them (even though, again with the internet). Anyway, here's my cookbook cupboard now! Also my old Fiestaware, and my wine glass cupboard. (Don't judge me, I have issues with dishes). The goblets in the middle I bought after seeing them on an episode of the OC - the Cohen's have those glasses - and now so do I. (Villeroy & Boch, Miss Desiree)

Here are the rest of my dishes. Drinking glasses on the left, and my white dishes on the right. I've also got a set of cream colored dinner and salad plates on the upper right that I bought on clearance at Target. Pretty sure I got the whole set for under $20 bucks.

This is our coffee/medicine chest on the left, and then pantry staples (like pasta, cake mixes, and peanut butter) in the middle. On the right is my baking "stuffs" on the second shelf, and my seasoning "stuffs" on the bottom.

I hope you're not too bored looking in my cupboards, I just know I LOVE looking in other peoples' cupboards so I just assume everybody else does too. ; ) Maybe some other day I'll show you my pantry, and my serving platters, and all the lower cabinets. Can you even imagine the excitement?...

I don't really "get" Wordless Wednesday. So around here words are totally OK, and actually encouraged! So if you like words too and want to link up your "Wordless Wednesday, but with Words", please do. And if it's Thursday by the time you get around to it, well heck, that's OK too.

  3. So your cupboards look just like the ones in that creepy movie with the killer stalker husband, Sleeping with the enemy.
    I like that.

  9. I totally thought I was the only one who enjoyed snooping in other people's cupboards. Your cupboards are very neat and tidy. Mine you have brace yourself for when you open them or you will be attacked by...crackers usually.

  13. Wow, looks good. I really need to do the same, but since we are planning to move something within the next 4 months I have very little motivation to do so...

  14. Can someone come and clean our kitchen too!! :D

  15. Thank you for sharing your cupboards!! They look great! I love your dishes! So simple yet pretty! Way to go on condensing the cookbooks! That's not an easy task. It's so easy for me to think "yeah but what if I use this someday?!" then that someday never comes! Which reminds me that I really need to go through my recipe stuff and consolidate!

    Happy Wednesday!

  16. I am so jealous of your tidy, uncluttered cupboards. I really need to do that. My pantry is a disaster.

  17. I did that a few months ago and now I'm disaster again. I really must go copy you!

  18. Wow they are so neat and tidy... mine has doors on for a reason, so you can't see what a mess is on the inside ;)

  19. I love the feeling of accomplishment when the organizing is done. That means right now....not feeling so accomplished. LOL! Thank you for allowing us to see what is inside your cabinets. :0)

  20. Feel free to pop by anytime - I don't have a lot of cupboards but they could definitely use your organizing touch :)

  21. i always like when you do the little home tour/redo posts. and btw, i pretty much nest every day of the year because i always have a big bag of something to donate or throw away. i am the exact opposite of a hoarder. i can not stand clutter. the cabinets look great though.

  22. I am a "nester" too. It happens to me a few times month. I did the same with our cookbooks a while back. Funny thing is, we get cookbooks as gifts all the time. And the just pile up again.

  23. I love seeing stuff like this. My husband makes fun of me because when we're driving at night-or out on walks-I like to see what people's homes look like through their windows. I love seeing how people decorate/organize!

  26. Ha! Not bored at all! It helps me to have ideas for my organization of my cupboards.

    p.s. Nice kitchen

  27. OMG your cabinets look amazing! And I totally know what you mean about the Everyday Food mags - I have 3 years of them myself and cannot part with them. {although mine sure do not look as organized as yours do!}

Don't worry, I'm sure the funk is just a quick phase that will pass soon. Love your blog, funk or no funk. Hugs!

  28. Ahh the O.C. How I miss the Cohens and that show! Do you watch the new 90210? Guilty pleasure of mine. I have the red kichen aid mixer too. Totally jealous of all your matching dishes. We have quite the mismatch of sets these days. At one time we had an entire set but over the years things have been broken. Time to get a new set. Great idea to store cookbooks in the cabinets. I really need to ditch some of mine that I never use. I have an entire bookshelf of them and probably only use 2-3 thanks to the internet.
