Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland is (apparently) so good that they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Which is AWESOME, except for the fact that when we went there to grab an
Old Dirty Bastard (to thank my
vegan sister for watching the kiddos while we escaped for the weekend) there was a line around the block. And it was raining. Oh, and we're lazy.
Has anybody actually BEEN to Voodoo Doughnuts? Is it worth the wait? I mean I'm ASSUMING that a maple bar with bacon on top (seriously!) would be totally worth it, but I can't be sure.
Sounds like it is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI've been to VooDoo. They're delish. My husband and I took a three week trip to Seattle and Portland specifically for the vegan donuts at VooDoo in Portland and Mighty O in Seattle. It was worth every minute of driving from Green Bay to the west coast!
ReplyDeleteHmm never had one - but I think we would have drove one too...
ReplyDeleteI think I saw them on the Food Network. Don't they put like "x's" over the heart and stuff like that..lol I would love to see some pictures of the donuts, yummm :)
ReplyDeleteintriguing! Is it ALWAYS that busy?? wow. Hopefully you can get there sometime and try that bacon donut for me! :)P
ReplyDeleteCreative photo! We just traveled to Massachusetts and couldn't believe how many Dunkin Donuts we saw! This one-of-a-kind shop is much more picturesque!
ReplyDeleteOh I've always wanted to go! ... We got to TopPot Donuts whenever we're in Seattle... I'd say - a donut is a donut, but its the touristy side that makes you want to go. Plus voodoo donuts was on Amazing Race one time - which makes me want to go. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaven't been there .... but have seen them on Food Network, too. Lots of neat food scenes in Portland, but I don't stand in line for anything any more. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe go to Portland 2 or more times a year and we go to Voodoo all the time. Even flew there just to get doughnuts and fly back. I love PDX, I want to move to PDX and start a family there. I totally forgot you lived up there. But anyway, yes they are sooo good and worth the wait. I haven’t been to the other locations just the original. First time there was a line but we waited and all other times a line but not as long as our first time. We love the Voodoo Doll, Bacon Maple Bar, Portland Cream, Captain my Captain, Dirt Doughnut and of course the Glazed. You’ll have to try some when you can and I need to go to PDX soon, it’s been a long time. I haven’t been since they remolded the place and made it bigger. Oh now I miss PDX.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, love the pictures, cool to see how it looks now that it’s bigger.
Imma visit you in Oregon one day. Because I need to see those donuts, I mean you.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's TOTALLY worth it!! They are legendary!
ReplyDeletemaking a mental note for my next trip to Portland...
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw you on Communal Global, I wondered how someone posted one of my photos. Was there last month and took that same shot - gotta love that sign. I honestly am not a donut person, but I had the voodoo doll, and it was nummy, the guys I was with said theirs were absolutely perfect, just the right amount of creme filling, not too much topping, seriously, you would have thought we were discussing important things like wine. I am glad we did it, just to say we did. I suggest you go early in the morning. We were there 8ish on a Sunday and the line was no more than 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth it!
