and then she snapped: my honey

my honey

She fell in love with the drummer, she fell in love...

I met the love of my life when we were just eighteen years old.  He was actually in bed with another woman at the time...oh wait, I'm getting ahead of myself...

My honey saw a photo of me in my bff's dorm room and thought I was "hot", so my bff gave him my number.  He asked me out, and we made a date, but when that day arrived he called me again and said he couldn't make it because his "dad broke his neck".

riiiiiiight.  What a jerk, doesn't even have the balls decency to come up with a more legitimate sounding excuse!

ooops, my bad, his dad really DID break his neck.  (he fell, skiing, and had to ride down the mountain in his friend's passenger seat with the seat all the way reclined, and he was smoking with his head all crammed up by the windshield, because he knew they wouldn't let him smoke once he got to the hospital).  Wait, sorry, I'm getting way off track here...don't worry, his dad survived.

We rescheduled, and our first date was spent at the Seattle Aquarium.  He mentioned that he had band practice that night and all day I hinted that I would love  to come watch.  He didn't catch on.  He was a long haired, "love van" driving, Simple shoe wearing (when he wasn't barefoot), camel hard pack smoking, completely laid back drummer, and I was a silly girl who was more than willing to be a groupie. He dropped me off at my dorm that evening, and I don't think I even got a kiss...but I knew.  He was the one.

From that day on we were inseparable, despite the 88 miles between our respective colleges.

That was over 20 years ago, and I still love him as much as the day I met him.  Since then he's traded the long hair for the number 2 guard, the drums for bikes, and the cigarettes for a mortgage and a family.  But he's still completely laid back and I'm still his number one groupie.
